We're joining forces with the National Weather Service, the Virginia Department of Emergency Management and local media to improve on our community's readiness, responsiveness and overall resilience against severe weather.

Throughout the week we'll cover different topics to ensure you're prepared to handle whatever weather may come our way.

And don't forget, there will be a statewide tornado drill on Thursday, March 7, at 9:45 a.m.

What's a WEA?

Wireless Emergency Alerts, or WEA, are a method of sending emergency and life-saving information to the public through mobile phones such as Amber Alerts and Weather Warnings.

Find out more about WEA and how to check to ensure your phone is set up to receive them.
