Shore Drive Bridge Rehabilitation

The Shore Drive bridge is undergoing rehabilitation to repair structural elements, install an epoxy overlay, waterproofing and other repairs. 

The project will repair and protect concrete elements and extend the useful life of the bridge.

Scope of Work

  • Repair concrete spalls, cracks and delaminations in the bridge superstructure
  • Install an epoxy deck overlay
  • Apply waterproofing sealant to concrete elements
  • New lane striping and pavement markings 

Project Schedule

Estimated Start Date: June 23, 2025 
Contractor will begin sidewalk closures June 19 - 26. 
Estimated Completion Date: Late 2025

Construction and Traffic Impacts 

  • Initial work will take place at overnight (7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.) for the first couple weeks.  Then, construction will shift to Monday—Friday from 7:00am to 5:00pm; Occasional weekend work may be scheduled.
  • The nighttime work will include cleaning and painting the railing system and the light poles.  The paint needs to be applied in cooler temperatures, which can be achieved at night. The work activity will not generate a lot of noise. 
  • Single lane closure on bridge.  Maximum open lane width 11’-0.” The contractor will be starting on the Northbound side and then moving to the Southbound side.
  • There will be a single sidewalk closure that will remain up during the day.  
  • Motorists should expect alternating lane closures.
  • Message boards will be displayed at least a week before the start of construction, announcing traffic pattern changes ahead of time. 

     

Public Notifications

Message boards will be displayed at least a week before the start of construction, announcing traffic pattern changes ahead of time. Civic leagues and neighborhood groups will receive notices and via NextDoor prior to the start of construction.
