A hot tub, above-ground pool, and in-ground pool all require both zoning approval and a building permit.
Items Needed for Review
- Survey or aerial photograph showing the proposed pool/hot tub:
- Distances to all property lines
- Location of pool pump/equipment (must be a minimum of 3′ away from the pool barrier)
- Location of fence (a pool fence is required if the pool is in-ground, or if the above-ground pool is less than 48 inches high.
- A hot tub is required to have a lockable lid
- Location of pool decking
- An elevation certificate is required if in a flood zone
- General Permit application
- A pool barrier for inground pools (must be secured before pool permit will be issued)
- A pool barrier permit is not required for an above-ground pool.
- Information needed for permitting:
- Specs sheet for above-ground pool. This will include the size and height of the pool.
- If in-ground pool, construction drawings may include the liner detail.
- Barrier details.
- If above-ground pool: height of the pool from adjacent grade, ladder details or barrier if around a deck. This may include the location of alarms on windows and doors.
- You will need to create a project in the Permit Portal, complete the permit application, and upload all information and documentation via the portal.
- For discrepancies or clarification in your application, we will reach out via email.
- Once the site plan and construction plans are approved, we will notify you and request payment.
- All trades are permitted separately
