Presentation: Mitigating the Psychological and Cultural Effects of Vicarious Trauma

Overview: This presentation will discuss the concept of retriggering trauma, cultural and psychological factors that contribute to how we perceive and process trauma, and adaptive and maladaptive behaviors in response to trauma.

Presenter: Dr. Laconda Fanning

Dr. LaConda Ambrose Fanning is professionally trained in Clinical Psychology and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She is a certified Child and Adolescent Trauma Professional.  Her expertise includes Childhood Trauma, Chronic Mental Health, Behavioral Disorders, Marriage and Family Restoration, Psychological Assessment, Christian Counseling, and Church Administration. She has over 20 years of education in mental health, organizational leadership and psychology. Dr. Fanning has been recognized as the 2017 Humanitarian of the Year by the Virginia Counselors Association. She has presented at a wealth of conferences throughout her profession and is a published author and recently a creator and developer therapeutic media for children with behavioral and attention deficits.
