When the Utilities Go Out
It is a common occurrence for utilities to go out during hazardous situations such as weather related storms. It is strongly suggested to contact that utility directly instead of calling the City of Norfolk's Division of Emergency Communications (911).
Power Outages
If you are experiencing a power outage, please contact Dominion Energy directly at 866-DOM-HELP.
- Note: In the event of a blown transformer and / or downed wires or arcing, call the fire department at 911.
Natural Gas
In the event of a gas leak, in addition to calling Virginia Natural Gas at 877-572-3342 also call the fire department at 911.
Cable / Satellite Service Outages
Contact your local cable or satellite provider.
Land-line, Cellular & Internet Phone Service Outages
Contact your local phone provider. Most cellular phones with power but no service may still be able to call 911 in an emergency. Please do not use this number to get your service reconnected.
